Queens Park Rangers have agreed to let summer signing Ben Gladwin remain on loan at former club Swindon until the end of the season. Having failed to keep Rs in the Premier League, they stuck by their man, but Ramsey got the chop after an instant Premier League return started to look less and less likely.

The 53-year-old, who was appointed as permanent Rangers boss in May following a spell in caretaker charge, leaves a day after a 1-0 defeat by Derby left the club 13th in the Championship.

“Keeping these players at the club has seen the mandate change, owing to what we believe this squad is capable of”, he added.

In the interim period, Neil Warnock will take temporary charge of first team affairs.

A better performance, but ultimately another disappointing result as the pressure starts to build on Head Coach Chris Ramsey.

Sherwood had been poised to take over before Ramsey in February when QPR were still a Premier League club, but the deal fell through because of his lofty wage demands. “He has had to deal with this shift in expectation and has worked incredibly hard in doing so”. He was sacked as Villa boss last month and has once again been linked with Loftus Road – but supporters do not seem to want him.
