Finland is the latest to jump on this craze by becoming one of the first countries in the world to launch its own set of official emoji.
‘Sauna is as Finnish as it gets.
Typically Finnish ideograms, such as the sauna or the heavy metal aficionado, have been missing from commonly-available global emoji packs, she said.
The Finnish emojis were designed for the ministry by Brazilian Bruno Leo Ribeiro. There’s a small headbanger living inside of each Finn.
The Finland government hopes people will be able to see the tongue-in-cheek side of things with their emojis that can be downloaded from their tourism website.
They are to be featured as part of the Christmas calendar published by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on ThisisFINLAND. “One example is disarming honesty”, Theman added.
There will be more than 30 emoji stickers included, and the first three have been revealed this week: the Headbanger, the Sauna and the Unbreakable (Nokia 3310). Nokia, of course, was once the global handset market leader before being replaced by the likes of Samsung and Apple. The legendary Nokia 3310 is one of the highest selling mobile phones of all times.

It’s not clear whether they’ll be released on to the Web as a downloadable set, so right now they feel a bit like pictograms to us.
