The rink is open from 10 a.m.to 11:30 p.m. daily until January 18, except for New Year’s Eve when the rink closes at 9:30 p.m. Group rates and private parties are also available at www.unionsquareicerink.com/private-parties. Skate rental is $6.
Construction has begun on the ice skating rink at Cooper Riverside Park.
Family Skate Night: Wednesdays, 4pm – Closing: With every adult admission, one child under 12 gets their admission fee covered.
The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink has been operating since 2007. The city boasts of a large number of popular skating rinks that provide quality winter-time entertainment for guests of all ages.
Organized by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership (DSP) and situated in the heart of downtown at the corner of 7th and K streets, the ice rink has been a seasonal landmark on the Kay since 1991 and offers a playful escape into an urban winter wonderland for kids and adults alike. Grab your single friends and head down to the ice rink for a single’s night mixer!
In addition, Winter in the Park will also feature other events, including holiday movies, music performances, games, and more.
The fierce and “fa-la-la-la-abulous” drag queens of the Bay Area are returning to the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square presented by Bank of the West for one of the City’s most popular holiday events.

Skaters on New Year’s Day can take part in the Canadian tradition of the Polar Bear Plunge by putting on their bathing suits and sunglasses and skating in the Polar Bear Skate. A full service café is available on-site.
