A baby pygmy goat stolen from the Arizona State Fair is safe and sound.
The little goat, who weighs no more than 5 pounds (2.3 kg), was maybe hidden under the thief’s jacket, or even in a purse, officials said.
Fair Livestock Director Karen Searle says they have received calls from potential witnesses and are passing credible tips to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Security and state troopers were alerted, she said, but the goat was gone. Fair officials cautioned that given GusGus’ young age, were he not returned to his mother immediately, there was a good chance he would die.

“The minute it happened, we notified all of the gates and said, hey, please keep an eye on this, notified DPS, please keep a lookout for someone with a goat, which should be abnormal”, Searle said. “If he is not returned, the odds that he won’t make it are really, really very high”. Take him to the VIP entrance at 17th Avenue and McDowell Road.
