Quentin Tarantino Breaks His Silence On Police Brutality

And New York Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association boss Pat Lynch called Tarantino a “cop-hater”.

“I’m a human being with a conscience”, he added.

“When I see murder I can not stand by. I have to call the murderers murders”, he said at the demonstration.

A feud between the director and various police unions began after he appeared at a demonstration in New York City on October 24.

“All cops are not murderers”, Tarantino said. And that’s what’s not being talked about. “It’s just not convenient?'” “Because I actually have a whole lot of fans that are police officers”. This reaction has shocked the director, since he felt it was clear he was not making a blanket statement about the police.

Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton publicly condemned Tarantino’s comments. “Unfortunately he mistakes lawful use of force for murder, and it’s not”. According to the New York Times, police departments in Los Angeles, “New York, Philidelphia, and elsewhere” have voiced support for the anti-Tarantino movement.

As a result, multiple police unions have called for a boycott of his movies. “I was referring to Eric Garner, I was referring to Sam DuBose, I was referring to Antonio Guzman Lopez, I was referring to Tamir Rice”, the director said. “The Hateful Eight”, about bounty hunters in post-Civil War Wyoming, opens in U.S. movie theaters on December 25 and is seen as a contender for this year’s Academy Awards. “In the case of Walter Scott…in the case of Sam DuBose, I believe those were murder, and they were deemed murder”. “We don’t speak for Quentin, he can and should be allowed to speak for himself”, Weinstein spokesperson Brad Thompson said.

In a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, Tarantino said “All cops are not murderers”.

“What they’re doing is pretty obvious”, he said. “I was surprised. I was under the impression I was an American and had First Amendment rights, and there’s no problem with me attending an anti-police brutality protest and speaking my mind”.

“We, the people that he so clearly detests, are out on the streets of America every day so that he, and those of his philosophical bent, can march and protest and say things that tear apart the very fiber of our society”, Ryan said.
