Social media major Facebook Inc reported a 40.5 per cent hike in YoY revenue to $4.5 billion in the quarter ended 30 September, 2015 (Q3-2015) as compared to the $3.2 billion in the corresponding quarter of past year.
“We’re focused on innovating and investing for the long term to serve our community and connect the entire world”, he added.
Facebook shares closed Wednesday at $103.94, up $1.36, then jumped about 3 percent after the markets closed.
The company also hopes to generate more advertising revenue from Instagram, the photo-sharing app it purchased in 2012 for $1 billion, which has recently expanded its marketing products.
“We had a good quarter and got a lot done”, he said.
During the earnings call, it was also revealed that Facebook now sees 8bn daily views of video content, and more than 500m users watching videos every day. In 2014, mobile ads made up about 66 percent of third-quarter ad dollars.
Of the 1.55 billion users active each day, 1.39 use their mobile devices to log in to Facebook. The social notworking site did not say Instagram’s ad sales figures, but it is expected to bring in $595 million in mobile ad revenues this year, and its ad revenue is projected to grow to $2.8 billion by 2017.
