Concerned over anti-India sentiments in Nepal: Indian envoy
India made the assertion on the second Universal Periodic Review (UPR), half of the Interactive Dialogue on the twenty third Session of the UPR Working Group on the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva on Wednesday. He said more than 200 trucks and other vehicles had crossed from Birgunj in Nepal to Raxaul in India and more were lining up.

There is no doubt that Indian diplomacy has failed to influence public opinion in Nepal to ensure fair treatment to the Madhesis, who, due to their proximity to India, look to New Delhi for political guidance. Firings, which had ceased just after the adoption of the Constitution, have reoccurred. India said it has deep rooted historic and cultural ties with Nepal and it will continue to extend all assistance to it for peace, stability and socio-economic development of the country.
