WWE world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins injured his knee during a show in Dublin on Wednesday night.

Rollins was due to defend his title against former teammate Roman Reigns at the Survivor Series event on November 22. Before Rollins suffered the injury, Reigns seemed likely to win his first singles championship at WrestleMania 32, and WWE could decide to fast track him to the top at Survivor Series. Because Rollins’ championship reign will end during the build for Survivor Series, thanks to him blowing out his knee during a match in Ireland.

There’s going to be a lot of fallout from Rollins injury.

Since being crowned champion, Rollins has main-evented almost every WWE special event with the exception of SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell which were both headlined by Lesnar and The Undertaker. In a report by Inquisitr, there are rumors that WWE will be having preliminary or qualifying matches in the next two weeks before Survivor Series and have about 12 to 16 participants. Sheamus, who holds the Money in the Bank briefcase, also looms as a wild card with the title up for grabs.

Difference this time is, the low ratings and lack of energy and enthusiasm from fans isn’t because a competing company is offering a better, more watchable alternative.

The bottom line is, is Reigns does indeed win the WWE Championship, he’ll need to be in a big time feud, which is the toughest part out of all of this. Not only must Rollins endure months of rehab, but WWE has to plan for its future without Rollins, and whether that means putting the strap on Reigns remains to be seen.

Here is a fan video of the Rollins injury at the Dublin event… Roman won a fantastic fatal-four match on RAW to get the title match at the pay per view. However, Creative is notorious for shifting gears and changing endings at the last possible second, hence why Rollins has the belt to begin with. I expect to see big pushes coming for Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose, with Kevin Owens being their heel counterpart.
