SurveyMonkey is an online polling and survey company.

Having spearheaded much of the strategy behind cleaving Hewlett-Packard Co.in two, Bill Veght will face a very different challenge in his new role: Pulling together a company that’s coping with grief.

SurveyMonkey Chairman Zander Lurie told Re/code that the company looked at 75 candidates for the job and interviewed a dozen potential CEOs before settling on Veghte.

“Bill has a very uplifting spirit that will be critical to healing SurveyMonkey”, she said.

SurveyMonkey has chosen Bill Veghte as its permanent CEO, CNBC reports.

“SurveyMonkey is a special company with a wonderful opportunity in front of it”, Mr Veghte said.

His appointment is effective August 3. Then, in 2014, SurveyMonkey raised $250 million from investors, pushing its valuation to $2 billion and further delaying an IPO. He was a “significant” shareholder in the company, according to Bennett Porter, a company spokeswoman.

SurveyMonkey also appointed David Ebersman, the ex- CFO of Facebook, to its board.

“Ever since Dave joined SurveyMonkey six years ago, I watched him and his team execute on their mission to help people make better decisions”, Sheryl said in a statement. Since then she has published on Facebook a widely read post on her widowhood and on the necessity of moving forward during grief. Ebersman served as Facebook’s chief financial officer from 2009 to 2014, ushering the social-networking giant through its hard initial public offering in 2012. “There’s a lot of hard work” before that is possible. While Lurie is also going to continue to hold his position at GoPro, there was no mention of how the search for a new CEO is now shaping up.
