Authorities in West Virginia say sheriff’s deputies attempting to arrest a suspect in an armed robbery fatally shot a man after he confronted deputies at a Morgantown residence with a shotgun.

Romonaski was armed by a shotgun and handgun at the time of the shooting according to police.
Police said 2 women and a teenage boy were in the home and complied with the 10 deputies, 7 in uniform and 3 in plain clothes.
Deputies have now obtained arrest warrants for Knisell and Barker for first degree armed robbery and conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Morgantown police continue an investigation into the shooting at Charles Avenue. A single deputy, whose name hasn’t been released, is believed to have fired all of the shots.
Romanoski was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
Police Chief Ed Preston said in a news release that police responded before noon Wednesday after witnesses said they saw a group of men beating someone and then stuffing him into the trunk of a auto.
Individuals inside the house tried to keep deputies from going inside, the release states.

Upon further investigation, officers found that the entire incident was part of a fraternity prank for the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, according to police.
