Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian in the occupied West Bank on Thursday after he ignored calls to halt and attempted to attack one of the soldiers at a crowded bus stop, the military said. They note his long history of supporting nonviolent resistance, reiterated as recently as September in a speech to the United Nations, and the continued cooperation of Palestinian security forces with their Israeli counterparts.

Numerous Palestinian assailants were killed or wounded during the attacks. Subsequently, four Israeli extremists were jailed for six months without charges, a measure Israel typically uses against Palestinians. Most of the violence has been arson or damage to crops or trees, or incidents such as shootings, beatings, stone-throwing or assault with clubs or knives.
They waved Palestinian flags and chanted “we will die but Palestine will live on”. He stressed that they would be installed in cooperation with the Palestinians. Palestinians “will not agree to the continuation of the situation on our lands…”
Last month, Israeli forces arrested more than 1,500 Palestinians, the Israeli army stated.
