February 11, 2015 – Congress again tries to push the Obama administration to decide on the permit by passing legislation forcing the decision and sending it to the White House. Today, they called the decision a big win.

“The pipeline was a bad idea from the beginning”, she says. Industry groups and their more business-focused friends, meanwhile, couldn’t fathom putting concerns about the climate above the nation’s near-term economic and national security interests.

Supporters of the Keystone deal believed the project would create thousands of jobs and allow for a more stable way to transport oil between Canada and the Gulf Coast of the United States. “This is a routine infrastructure project that should have been approved long ago”.

A request to build the Keystone XL pipeline was first sent to the U.S. State Department on September 19, 2008.

President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, who was charged with making a recommendation on the controversial project, were scheduled to meet on Friday morning, ahead of public remarks by Obama at 11:45 a.m.

The 1,179-mile proposed pipeline wouldn’t have lowered USA gas prices, Obama said, nor would it have contributed to U.S.jobs long-term or make the US less dependent on foreign energy.

The fact that gas prices happen to be low right now and that Obama is nearing the end of his presidency made his decision easier.

Many Republican lawmakers supported the construction of the pipeline.

“Keystone XL would have brought good-paying jobs and much-needed tax revenue to Nebraska’s counties”, Governor Ricketts, said.

All three Democratic candidates for president have come out against the Keystone XL pipeline while all the Republican candidates are for it. The ball will be in the company’s court in 2017, the official said.
