New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans – 11/8/15 NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Jameis Winston saw what Drew Brees did to the New York Giants last Sunday, but he wants to temper expectations a bit heading into Week 9.

What is insane is that Drew Brees could have easily had a bunch more yards in this game.

The big play has been lacking from this offense for a couple of years; what has led to the return of the big play in the passing game? And special teams are equally important, and anytime no matter what the circumstance, you allow 49 points… yikes!

At least another thing that the schedule-maker did (but unwittingly so at the time) was give the Saints yet another “winnable game” on their itinerary of remaining games that possibly can propel them forward towards gaining a Wild Card Playoff spot in the NFC.

Those are the kind of games the Saints would have lost last season. However, I know for a fact that when the time comes for me to have kids, I will get to tell them of a legend, a man who defied odds and shattered records, and this past Sunday’s performance will be among the stories I tell. If they just could grind out a few first downs against New Orleans’ 24th-ranked run defense, and avoid the turnovers, they could keep this one close. Brees and the offense finally seem to be finding their rhythm; Sean Payton’s Juicy Fruit are finally starting to work.

Brees also forced a pass to Cooks later in the game that was picked off, and what was odd was Brees nearly definitely had enough room to run and pick up the first down on the play which would have extended the drive.

The latest incarnation of “How The West (and SEC) Was Won” takes place this weekend in Tuscaloosa, as the Louisiana State University Tigers take on the Univesity of Alabama Crimson Tide with first place in the SEC West on the line (yes, yes Ole Miss – we know you’re in the running too).

A year later, the Saints have an opportunity to atone for those mistakes, beginning Sunday against the awful Titans. With a chance to get their heads above water, the Saints know that they must continue to stack wins together and not take a big step back.

Brees said the development of chemistry had been a challenge the last two seasons.

“A guy like Meachem or Devery, who I have been with seven years, I know exactly how they are going to run that route against that coverage”, Brees said. For a new guy, what you see on paper and what we call it is not necessarily the way that it looks, and it might change depending on that look, and yet we haven’t had time to (practice) it yet. The Saints have completed 40 passes of 20 or more yards this season, a mark that’s tops in the league.

Cooks said the play was one “we practiced…so much throughout training camp”. It was really just a numbers game when it came down to it. Having been here, obviously, it is not like everything is new to him. The chemistry between us was awesome. To go along with that, we had a combination of both good and bad performances, but there were actually quite a few good ones in Week 8 of the National Football League season. You can see the void in the defense as soon as the ball is snapped. “It’s very clear, when you watch them, why they’re ranked third in that statistic”. “They would have had 5 seconds left had we covered it”, Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. Through those experiences, teams build confidence and figure out how to stare down and overcome adversity.

“I think Cooks’ second touchdown, the over-the-shoulder fade-ball”. 500 record feels a lot better than it looks.
