Tarantino: Problems With Policing Not ‘Issue of Individuals,’ They’re ‘Inside

New York City Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association president Patrick J. Lynch called Tarantino a “cop-hater”, while Fraternal Order of Police executive director Jim Pasco said his group, the largest organization of police officers in the world, had a “surprise” planned for Tarantino. The “Django Unchained” director called out what he considers the “murder” of unarmed people by law enforcement officers during a rally organized by RiseUpOctober.

Tarantino has said he’s being “demonized” by police. They’re saying I’m a cop hater, which is slander because I didn’t say that.

“The timing was very unfortunate, and his death that officer’s death, is a tragedy, and I acknowledge that 100 percent, and my heart goes out to him and goes out to his loved ones”, Tarantino said. Tarantino’s comments also drew condemnation from, among others, New York Police Department Commissioner William Bratton.

Speaking about the police response on Friday, Tarantino likened it to a “hydra”.

“They want us to think they’re so fearless, but that’s not courageous”, Maher said of cops after showing the latest fatal police shooting caught on camera. And they’re implying that I meant that all cops are murderers, and I wasn’t. “We have to get to the problem and get this on the table”. “When I heard about it, I said, ‘I’ve known this guy a long time, we agree sometimes, we don’t agree, but what happened to him so reminded me of what happened to me after 9/11′”.

Tarantino and Maher were also joined by Anthony Weiner, David Frum & Jillian Melchior for the roundtable discussion, where they discussed television, Bernie Sanders and more.

This “surprise” the union is cooking up is on top of the boycott law enforcement agencies have initiated against Tarantino’s movies, including the upcoming “The Hateful Eight“.

He continued: “The biggest head that needs to be chopped off first is this blue wall idea. The fact that they will protect their own as opposed to put themselves at the betterment of citizenry”. “I think it’s inside the institution itself”.

Quentin added, “I actually don’t think it is an issue of individuals, good cops verses bad cops”. And I’m obviously talking about specific cases where it is murder as far as I’m concerned’.

He said this event could happen anytime between now and the premiere of The Hateful Eight, which opens Christmas Day.

Maher commiserated with Tarantino’s recent tribulations, drawing a comparison to his post-9/11 vilification when conservatives labeled Maher as anti-troops.
