Warriors dominate Rockets again

Curry listened to the crowd frequently rain down “MVP! MVP!” chants on Rockets guard James Harden.

Curry has scored 118 points in his first three games, the most by a player to start the season since Michael Jordan in the 1989-90 season. Rhetorical savant Green, between pregnant pauses, says it best: “You know it’s one thing to play like it. It’s one thing to score like it. It’s one thing to have a season like he had previous year”.

The transition began a year ago when Curry received more all-star votes than LeBron.

He is averaging these insane numbers by playing only 33 minutes per game, which is flat out ridiculous. The MVP runner-up finished 4 of 18, including 1 of 10 from 3-point range, but added seven rebounds and five assists.

“He’s not comfortable, but then, who is?” “Our offense is really stagnant”, Rockets coach Kevin McHale told reporters. “I mean, I look at anybody and I don’t see anybody [who] looks comfortable out there”. Memphis did a better job than most at holding Curry in check during the playoffs last spring, when he was limited to 24.5 points on 42.1 percent shooting in the six games.

The game was on an even keel at the end of the second quarter, with the Pelicans leading at 65-64. “He’s turning the corner like insane”, Warriors forward Draymond Green said of Curry. Sandwiched between Curry’s outburst was another statement, as Harrison Barnes drove to the basket and dunked over Dwight Howard.

Golden State improved to 2-0 and the Rockets fell to 0-2 after a clash of two teams again expected to challenge as best in the West.

After being a popular sleeper pick in the preseason to come out of the Western Conference, the Houston Rockets have fallen flat on their faces right out of the gates of the 2015-16 National Basketball Association season. He’s averaging 39.3 points, 7.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 made three-pointers and only 1.7 turnovers. PF Donatas Motiejunas remains out indefinitely after back surgery in April.

While it was nice that Asik was back, he didn’t quite seem like he was in game shape yet. C Andrew Bogut did not travel with the team after suffering a concussion in the season opener.

Curry picked up his fourth foul with 6:41 left in the third and sat for the rest of the quarter. Once Curry got hot, the Pelicans allowed the game to get out of hand. We’re used to seeing him snake his way around defenders and find an opening for a shot, but he made a few moves against the Rockets where he simply blew past over-committed coverage to go straight to rim. “I would’ve said the same thing to Steve and might have gotten to the bench quicker”. “But that’s something you expect from great players, they’re going to make shots”.

“It was fun, and the guys enjoyed it”, Walton said.

Game 2, same as the first, should have got better. Harden’s rumored girlfriend, Khloe Kardashian, was not spotted at the game after attending the season opener.

Friday night’s 112-92 thumping of the Houston Rockets is a clear message from Curry and crew that an extra dose of motivation is being put to full use thus far this season.
