The USA report cited cases of Palestinian security forces arresting journalists deemed critical of the administration and restricting media coverage deemed sympathetic of Abbas’s Islamist Hamas rivals, who control Gaza.

Israeli forces have killed a Palestinian woman, whom they accused of running over a number of Israelis in the town of al-Khalil (Hebron) in the West Bank.

A statement from the Shaare Zedek hospital said the woman was dead on arrival.

The military says the driver slowed down, then sped up and drove the auto toward the soldiers. Footage on Israeli TV showed bullet holes in the car’s front and back windshields.

Palestinian medics denied she had meant to attack the soldiers.

The sources said that when the soldiers tried to arrest the suspect, he was carrying a knife and tried to stab one of the soldiers, adding that other soldiers immediately opened fire and killed him. Oh men of the West Bank, next time, attack in a gaggle of three, 4, or 5. “If she had wanted to take revenge (for her husband’s death), she could have done that a long time ago”, Sharawi said.

Shortly after that shooting, a third Israeli was seriously injured in another shooting attack at Anoun Junction just north of Hebron, Ynet reported. The attacker fled the scene and was being searched for, the Israeli military said.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri said one of the Israelis was seriously wounded in Sunday’s attack.

RAMALLAH, West Bank, Nov 6 (Reuters) – The Palestinian administration in the occupied West Bank shut down the local office of a pan-Arab newspaper this week after accusing it of “offensive” reporting on Palestinian security coordination with Israel, officials said.

According to Palestinian media, almost 80 Palestinians have so far been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October. Palestinians say the violence is due to a lack of hope for gaining independence after years of failed peace efforts. As of Wednesday, the IDF recorded 58 stabbings, five shootings, and seven auto ramming attacks.

Recent attacks come as Israeli intelligence said earlier this week that a recent lull in violence was unlikely to be long-term, citing high levels of frustration among the Palestinian public and a weakened Palestinian Authority.
