Running back Adrian Peterson to face tough St. Louis Rams defense
“He’s extremely talented, and very similar (to Gurley) in that he can beat you in a lot of different ways”, the executive told Breer. Could the team that revolutionized the NFL with its passing attack at the dawn of the millenium be doing it again by taking the league back to the days when feature backs were the rule and not the exception?

St. Louis is above.
Offensively, the Rams rank 30th overall, third in rushing, 32nd in passing and 28th in scoring. But the Panthers themselves have not tasted defeat in a regular season game since last November, making it time to give them the benefit of the doubt. But when push comes to shove, the Giants have shown they can put up points in bunches, and I’m not sure Tampa Bay can say the same.
The Rams are what they are. The lack of reliability was affecting how they built the team around the position. I’m still pondering that one, but in the meantime do join me in congratulating AK74, BengaTron, bethegnat, FatSamurai, Hobble, jezzan, MortonsFork and peteym. Kenny Britt and Stedman Bailey are just barely above Adam Thielen production-wise. Brian Quick has two receptions.
Against the 49ers, Gurley became the first rookie in National Football League history to rush for 125 yards-plus in four consecutive games.
Gurley’s first game for the Rams didn’t leave an impression.
Suddenly teams aren’t necessarily looking for the next Andrew Luck or Derek Carr but the next Adrian Peterson or Todd Gurley. Gurley also has nine runs of 20 yards or more, totaling 344 yards, which is 59.8 percent of his total yardage. This is not something I am saying now, but I said it early on of Todd and also Melvin Gordon: They are throwbacks.
Peterson has 633 yards rushing this season. That said, you still need to game plan, and every defense has an Achilles Heel. We don’t spend much time on those guys. I’ve been surprised how easily opposing teams have gotten away from the run against St. Louis. “To be able to overcome that and focus on what you ultimately want to accomplish is a huge task for anyone to do that”.
Breaking clear from that clump requires either a very good quarterback, a historic defense or a truly generous schedule.
If the Vikings are going to do it though, a combination of Stefon Diggs and Adrian Peterson is the kind that on paper makes sense. Minnesota defense in top form. Not a lot of success recently, but starting to win.
On whether Peterson is the gold standard of active running backs: “Yeah, there’s only one AP….”
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher didn’t address the McDonald injury during his usual Friday-after-practice talk with the media, but it is believed that second-year man Maurice Alexander – a St. Louis native, who attended nearby Eureka High School – would start instead, if McDonald is unable to play on Sunday.
The Rams moving up in the 2013 National Football League draft to select Tavon Austin has been one of the more controversial draft selections the Rams have made in recent memory.
Things are so simplified at that level, many quarterbacks come to the pros with zero understanding of how to read defenses, go through progressions, call audibles or adjust protections like the best ones can. A long shot, but at the pace he’s run over the past four weeks, Gurley would finish the season with 1,846 yards.
And yet…here we are.
The Rams have earned that winning record. It doesn’t marginalize the achievements of breakout stars like Todd Gurley or the prolific exploits of Tom Brady.
Anyway, back to this season. A few of said it’s because of the system, others because it’s just that time. I mean, it was overwhelming.
And don’t even get me started on Ragnar.
There’s still a long way to go in this season, and the NFC North will certainly be one of the key divisions to keep an eye on. It’s not just one person that stands out. That’s for the commentators and I guess just the outside world. By day’s end, the two teams could be in a dead heat at 6-2 in the NFC North. The people of St. Louis and Los Angeles deserve better.
More than that, it will be a win over a team with a winning record.

Let’s take a closer look at this Sunday’s matchup, in which the Vikings are favored by 2.5 points.
