Kaepernick vows to support Gabbert through 49ers’ QB change

Starting Gabbert is a strong declaration of the slide endured by Kaepernick. The decision by the 49ers has Kaepernick stunned, but he has no choice but to go with the decision of the coaches.

Kaepernick is upset with the way he has been portrayed by the 49ers coaches. He needed to “step back and breathe”.

“I’m not out of breath, so I don’t understand that reference”, Kaepernick responed, via ESPN. “And we felt like Blaine had all this talent, and as a young player, maybe a change of scenery would be good for him”. That is how much Kaepernick has struggled this year, that Gabbert is viewed as an upgrade.

“That’s not something for me to say”. Instead of having a few unpleasant weeks in the offseason before Kaepernick is sent packing, Jim Tomsula has now added an additional three months or so onto it. Three months of time to get Kaepernick back on track is now standing on the sidelines, watching Gabbert trip all over himself with his new supporting cast. The Niners rushing game is also is turmoil with Carlos Hyde and Mike Davis both injured Jarryd Hayne should see action and Anqua Boldin is the top receiver with 31 catches but he is questionable.

They’re 2-6, the worst offense in the league (by a lot), they are reaching for straws, and this is the exact definition of a sinking, intellectually bankrupt franchise.

Oddsmakers certainly don’t believe Gabbert can show enough to lift a slumping 49ers team that had to sign a pair of running backs this week to shore up its injury-depleted backfield, traded away veteran tight end Vernon Davis and has the worst offense in the NFL.

The Thursday Night Football game saw quarterback Andy Dalton throw three touchdown passes to Tyler Eifert as the Browns had no answer to their connection. It’s something that mentally, I’ve been through before. Unfortunately at the quarterback position, when things aren’t going well, you’re going to be the person that’s evaluated the most and the hardest. Should Gabbert come in and really make a mess out of things, it’s likely that he will be back out there sooner rather than later.

Colin Kaepernick doesn’t see it that way. Tomsula should be able to explain to Kaepernick exactly why he made the decision to go to Gabbert. “That decision is out of my control, and I respect their authority”. The 49ers, now 2-6, couldn’t manage a single touchdown in their last two games.

He’s getting a second chance, at 26, after his frightful run in Jacksonville, joining a 49ers offense that ground to a halt under Kaepernick. San Francisco rallied from 17-0 deficit and won 28-24 at Atlanta in January 2013 NFC title game en route to Super Bowl. This has been a problem for Dan Quinn’s team for three games now, but this has to be the game to funk ends.
