Struggling Moyes expects to keep Sociedad job

It has escaped nobody’s attention that the total of nine points from 11 games is the same that former Real Sociedad coach Jagoba Arrasate had seen his side collect before he was sacked by the club a year ago to be replaced by the former Manchester United and Everton tactician.

However, the Revista de la Liga pundit can also be quite accurate on occasions and given Real Sociedad’s dismal form in La Liga this season, the initial reaction to Balague’s Moyes claim is that it is more than likely true.

Sitting two places above the drop zone in La Liga heading into the clash, bottom club Las Palmas climbed off the foot of the table with goals by Jonathan Viera and Sergio Araujo being enough to secure the three points.

“Any coach at any team in the world would be anxious about this situation but I’m not anxious, I’m used to it. The season is long and I have faith in the players, but they have to demonstrate their quality”. Moyes dismissed suggestions that he had lost control of the dressing room and insisted that he had the full support of the playing staff. But I’m sure come the end of the season we’ll win a lot of games at home.

Balague added: “Sociedad had to ask what kind of manager they were looking for, and did they get it. The only one defending him and saying we had the man we want was the chairman”.

He won 12 games out of 38 altogether and his side beat Barcelona in January, but ultimately finished 12th last season.

“It sounds like I shouldn’t use the word “unlucky”, so I won’t use the word “unlucky”.
