Wenger bemoans Arsenal defeat

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had to come off early and Wenger sent Walcott on to replace him against Sheffield Wednesday, only for Walcott to get injured as well.

Arsenal were dumped out of the League Cup after a weakened team crashed to a humbling 3-0 defeat at second-tier Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round on Tuesday.

“They were [costly] injuries because we lost two players in 20 minutes and they are going to be out for I don’t know how long”, Flamini added.

“Campbell and Alex Iwobi [are the options on the right flank]”, Wenger was quoted saying on Arsenal’s official website. You have to wait 48 hours for the scans to see how big the damage is. They are unlikely to return to the squad until after the forthcoming global break.

Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out until after the forthcoming worldwide break, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has announced. We lost the two players and after that, we were not good enough.

“I am very happy about the victory, I think we deserved it”, he said.

According to reports reaching SportingAlert.com, the Arsenal winger felt a bit of tightness in his hamstring and after talking to the team doctors, manager Arsene Wenger decided to make the early substitution.

“They are not ready to play at this level”, said Wenger.

“Ideally I would have loved to have won tonight”, Wenger said.

“We knew at the start of the game that if something happens to us we were a bit short”, he told Sky Sports.

“Last year against Swansea they are the only team who have beaten us twice, so we have a good challenge”.

I’m concerned because our next game is a big game on Saturday, we have the Champions League against Bayern Munich coming up. Arsenal had players to make up for the loss, but the lack of quality cover did hurt them in the final third, even though they dominated possession against the Championship club.
