Hitzlsperger: Garde can save Villa from relegation

Remi Garde has revealed how his former mentor Gerard Houllier advised him to take up the vacant managerial role at Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.

“The situation at the moment is very hard for everybody”. “But I think the current level of the table doesn’t reflect the level of the team”. “But I am quite confident, because there is a few very good players in the team. It’s about maintaining that and we need to push on”.

Tom Fox, Aston Villa Chief Executive, said: “For the past year we have been working purposefully to transform the Club in order to build a successful organisation that can compete and succeed in the Premier League”.

England manager Roy Hodgson, also in attendance at White Hart Lane, would have been pleased to see Kane’s return to form continue, but it was Alli who sparkled with a man-of-the-match display in midfield. I believe the sale of the club will happen next summer but Lerner may not get the price he desires.

You can’t fault Villa for their effort – they ran their hearts out trying to close down and rattle Tottenham players at every opportunity – but ultimately they are on the bottom of the Premier League table for a reason. Firstly it would help if Villa fielded their best players, it seems key players are being left out again and again, the majority of Villa fans want the likes of Carles Gil (Most creative player) Jordan Ayew and Jordan Amavi to be played each game.

“It’s not just in football but in society you are part of a minority so I don’t think it will ever be a non-issue”.

“I wouldn’t have taken over if I thought we couldn’t stay up”.

Garde said that he hoped Villa will “improve in different ways”, and that the “spirit” he saw against Tottenham was an encouraging sign.

Tottenham’s next game, away to second-placed London rivals Arsenal on Sunday, will reveal more about their credentials. He did only three years but under him, during my year, I really enjoyed my time. “The team is the whole team”.

Despite Harry Kane and Rose aiming risky shots at the Villa target, the visitors responded relatively well to going behind, with Scott Sinclair failing to control a clever Westwood ball over the top, a little after testing Hugo Lloris with a powerful, swerving shot.
