State police are combing through forensics evidence and 911 calls, conducting interviews and reviewing the body-camera footage, Edmonson said, as the investigation continues. There are still no answers as to why the officers pursued the vehicle before opening fire that wounded few and killed his son.
Two police officers in Louisiana are facing murder charges after a 6-year-old boy was shot to death in the front seat of his father’s vehicle, authorities said.
Edmonson declined to say exactly what Parnell captured on his camera, but at a news conference late Friday, he called the footage “one of the most disturbing scenes I have seen”.
The two law enforcement officers were arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder in the fatal shooting of a six-year-old boy and wounding of his father. “This badge has been tarnished by the following two individuals”.
State police said Stafford was a full-time lieutenant with the Marksville police department and Greenhouse was a full-time city marshal.
He added: “Jeremy Mardis was six years old”.
“Nothing is more important than this badge that we are wearing on our uniform”, Edmonson said. The coroner said the investigation is ongoing, but the “working theory” is that all the shots were fired by city marshals. “Any inquiries regarding the city marshal, or his office, should be directed to the city marshal”, said Smith. Marksville city officials asked for an attorney general’s opinion about the marshal’s authority to issue traffic tickets in the city limits without authorization from Marksville leaders.

“[It is] the most disturbing thing I’ve seen, and I will leave it at that.”
Two other marshals may also have been involved in the incident, Edmonson said.
“Justice has been done tonight”, Edmonson said. The New York Times reported Mardis, a special-needs student who had recently transferred to his new school in Louisiana from Mississippi, was shot several times in the head and chest. They were being held in a jail in central Louisiana.
Few’s fiancee Megan Dixon said she had an argument with him on the night of the shooting and said she stopped his vehicle next to hers at a red light.

Few picked up his son from a relative’s house and pulled up next to his fiancee at a stoplight to persuade her to come with him, according to Dixon, who said she refused.
