University of Missouri President announces resignation
“We will not rest until we have achieved full shared governance within the UM system”, a member said. “I’d ask everybody, from students and faculty and friends, to use my resignations to heal and start talking again, to make the changes necessary”.

University of Missouri President Tim Wolfe has resigned amid growing criticism of his handling of racial issues on campus. But we can thank black players on the University of Missouri football team for giving us a few off-field action to cheer about.

On Saturday, the black members of the Missouri football team, with the support of head football coach Gary Pinkel, announced they will neither practice nor play until Wolfe steps down from his position.
The prospect of a boycott from the university’s lucrative football team appears to have got the attention of both state politicians and the university’s board of curators, the system’s governing body. “We stopped listening to each other”.
The Mizzou football team would have lost $1 million if they had canceled the game against Brigham Young University at Kansas City’s Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. A swastika was also drawn in feces on a bathroom in a dorm.
Racial tensions in Missouri flared past year when a white policeman in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson killed unarmed black teenager Michael Brown and a grand jury brought no charges against him.

Already, at Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin’s request, the university announced plans to require diversity training for all new students starting in January, along with faculty and staff.
