Microsoft Corporation (MSFT)’s Skype For Business Launched On Windows

These reports bear out what I was told by Dell last week, that Windows 10 would need to be delivered to PC makers “within days” in order for PC makers to deliver new hardware to retail stores in the USA in time for July 29, Windows 10’s initial launch day. Reportedly, Microsoft Corporation is going all out and not leaving any stone unturned before releasing the final version of Windows OS. Here are the details about Windows 10 that will help users plan their upgrade.

The Verge reported that Windows 10 RTM copies already have been found online but pointed out that unlike earlier RTM Windows editions, this one is unique owing to Microsoft’s Windows-as-a-Service model that will produce regular and more frequent updates to the operating system.

This release does run quite well, much like 10162 and it’s again clear that Microsoft is working to squash as many bugs as they can before they send the OS off to OEMs to load on to new hardware.

First, the good news.

Windows 10 will be rolled out in phases, according to Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft’s Operating Systems Group.

Myerson also wrote that July 29 onwards, Microsoft Corporation will begin to notify the users who have reserved their systems for the upgrade after rolling out Windows 10 to the Insiders.

“In our testing of millions of systems, we’re seeing full compatibility today with the vast majority of Windows 8x and Windows 7x systems”, Myerson said in a blog post.

Windows 10 will also bring back a number of features that users have missed since the release of Windows 8 and 8.1, including the Start menu.

Another report on Emirates 247 said that in UAE where skype is blocked, users will not have a problem in accessing Skype for business app through their Windows phone provided they are corporate clients.

For as large and as technically good Microsoft is at software development, it’s bad at the rollout timing of new ISOs. However, build 10158 will not be released in the Fast and Slow rings, instead a newer 1016x build is likely to be pushed live soon.

Microsoft's Windows 10 will be released on July 29.
