Preliminary ratings for Trump on SNL are in

In a show that had viewers tune in at record levels to see Donald Trump host Saturday Night Live, it was Larry David who got the biggest laughs.

Trump, the current front-running Republican presidential candidate, has always been a caricature of himself. Inside Larry David won $5,000 by interrupting the show and screaming, “Trump is a racist!“.

The gag was referring to Deport Racism PAC’s offer of a cash reward to anyone in the audience who yelled, “Trump is a racist” during the broadcast, Time reported.

It received an overnight rating of 6.6 as opposed to the Clinton-hosted episode of 4.5, however, many critics claimed that Trump’s stint was all hype but did not have a satisfying delivery. At the time, it was the highest rated “SNL” in 14 years.

Trump responded with appreciation at David’s motives as a businessman. Trump said that “as history shows us, nothing brings two countries together like a wall.” SNL has launched the careers of numerous actors, including Chevy Chase, Tina Fey, Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray and the late John Belushi.

It’s impossible to blame the writers for everything – Trump is just not a amusing man. The former US Apprentice head honcho – who appeared on SNL in that guise in 2004 – was just like Alan Sugar in his jerky gesturing and unnatural autocue reading.

Trump was midway through his SNL monologue when an offscreen voice could be heard yelling, “Trump’s a racist!“.

“The fevered lead-up to Donald Trump’s “Saturday Night Live” episode turned out to be more exciting than the edition of the show he hosted”, wrote Variety TV columnist, Maureen Ryan. “She said a few things about me that were hurtful and untrue”.

America’s Voice, a pro-immigration reform group that was of the many participating in the protests of the network, went even further writing in a biting press release that “everybody hated Donald Trump on SNL“.

The show, which came under fire from Latino groups for inviting the blunt Republican presidential frontrunner to host, garnered a 6.6 rating in the 56 USA markets measured by Nielsen Media Research, NBC said in a statement. In a parody of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” which itself is a meme of the rapper’s dance moves, Trump showed what he can do.
