Perry Hill Elementary School students honor veterans during annual program
To confer special recognition to local American Veterans, the City of Muncie is again sponsoring a spaghetti dinner & Honor Program at Muncie Central High School on Veteran’s Day. The event features a guest speaker, display of combat vehicles on campus and Patriot Guard Riders. Staff and students may invite Veterans.

A Veterans Day assembly will take place at Adams Middle School at 8 a.m., breakfast snacks will be at the Johnstown-Monroe high school at 9:30 a.m., lunch will be at Searfoss Elementary School from 10:45 a.m.to 1p.m. and activities will be at Oregon Elementary School from 2:30 to 3 p.m.
In honor of Veterans Day, Culver’s of Manitowoc is offering a free single scoop of custard for veterans between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., Wednesday, November 11.
Augusta Independent School has a program set for 1 p.m., at the gym and an Alumni vs National Guard basketball game at 7 p.m., also in the gym. Guest speaker will be Michael Slusser.
In Marshall County, American Legion Post 39 will host a program honoring veterans on Lewisburg’s town square starting at 11 a.m. with the city’s police department participating. Guest speaker will be Rep. John Ratcliffe, Texas 4th congressional district. There will be a presentation of appreciation plaques to local recruiters and a pinning of veterans.
With Veterans from World War II, the Korea, Vietnam, and Gulf Wars, in attendance, students from Northeast Middle wants all veterans to know that they are appreciated. For information, go to http://www.durantchamber.org or call 580-924-0848.

After the program at the Reedsville Elementary/Middle School, veterans of the Armed Forces of the USA, spouses, spouses of deceased veterans and auxiliary members are invited to join the AMVETS and fellow veterans for socializing and a luncheon at Webster’s on Third Street, serving from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dinner is free for all veterans and a free-will donation is suggested for others attending. In addition to the dinner, a musical program will be presented by Tanner Young from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. All veterans, particularly those over age 50, are invited to attend, but must reserve a spot by calling the senior center at 903-892-7316.
