‘Gotham’ 2×08 preview: Barbara’s revenge
Jim Gordon may be the worst cop ever. Barbara begins to cry and Gordon kisses her. He wants her to confide in him, but she has something he needs to see first. The Hollywood Reporter asked Richards about Barbara’s new outlook on life, why she can’t let Jim Gordon go and where she’d like to see the character end up (Hint: the White House). Lee tells Gordon they will need to talk after this is all done, all but sealing their break-up.

Gordon, Bullock, Lee, and Barnes all debate on what to do next with Barbara. Logically, there was also little way that this was going to end with her still being alive at the end credits. Barbara walks down the aisle to Jim. Bruce is very torn, and turns to Alfred (Sean Pertwee) for advice.
Theo acknowledges that the Wayne family helped build Gotham, but the legacy is built on lies. That means sending Barbara after Gordon while Galavan tries to buy Wayne Enterprises from Bruce. Bruce will be rolling in cash, and Theo can take control and do what needs to be done. It’s entirely up to Bruce, and I honestly thought Bruce would sign the papers after he said, “Am I wrong to just want this all over?” Not only does he feel a sense of personal responsibility, but it’s all he has left of his parents. Surely, Galavan would have offered more but he gets interrupted…. Unfortunately, he did not get what was at one point promised to him: Information on who killed his parents. Bruce was always Thomas Wayne’s greatest legacy.
Barbara is convinced that Jim has been lying to his new girlfriend and hiding the darkest parts of his job – like how he got put back on the force after he was unceremoniously fired. With Lee and his captain in the next room behind double glass, Gordon tries another approach instead – showing Barbara kindness instead of cruelty. But all Barbara wants to talk about is the demise of their relationship. But even though he screwed her over, Barbara still loves Jim, and she believes he loves her too.
Gordon comes to and Bullock is out cold.
The one thing that Jim and the GCPD did get from Barbara was the location of the former Mayor, which they did uncover. Clearly, Jim still loves her even though she is batshit insane.
In a secluded forest outside the city, Nygma is disposing of Miss Kringle’s body. He credits her for bringing his two warring halves together as one.
A hunter stumbles across the scene, and Nygma kills the guy with a shovel to the head. Bruce can not wait to finish his training and must know the truth now. Bruce wonders how many innocent people will suffer in the meantime.
Alfred questions where Bruce’s newfound moroseness is coming from, and Bruce tells him about his conversation with Theo.
Regardless of that heartfelt outpouring, Bruce decides to sell the company because all he wants at this point is closure.
A gang of thugs opens fire on the cops and in the melee, Gordon is kidnapped and taken away by Barbara.
Barbara wears a wedding dress to the kidnapping. She tells Gordon that his hubris was his downfall. I know we are operating under television logic, but they led a bunch of young recruits directly into a trap, while disobeying orders to turn around: they should probably be fired or, at least, punished. Galavan is going down or is that just what he wants us to think? Let the games begin. But from her quick flip-flop of emotions to the way she seemingly stared right at Lee through the two-way mirror, it’s pretty obvious that Barbara is still on the path toward Gordon destruction. After what started as a stellar run to redeem the James Gordon origin series, Gotham has started to wobble in recent weeks.
How do Theo and Tabitha Galavan fit into this, then? Gordon manages to shoot Tabitha in the shoulder before she flees the scene.
Gordon grabs a shotgun and points it at Barbara as police sirens outside the church are heard.

Well, she’s fallen out of a window and is in critical condition. Butch is no longer a slave, so he turned on him, and Tabitha (Jessica Lucas) kills Penguin’s one true love – his mom. Her insane compulsive side easily outpaces her boring complaining side from season one. And it looks like she succeeded in screwing things up between Lee and Gordon, so it’s not a total loss. He eventually finds a small trailer in the middle of nowhere with the lights on.
