Busted head to Cardiff Motorpoint Arena as part of reunion tour

Charlie admits that James approached him about worling together again and the three of them went to America to see if they could come up with anything.

Busted are back and for the first time in 12 years they are going on an arena tour.

The band have also confirmed plans for a massive United Kingdom arena tour next year.

Tickets for the Belfast and Dublin gigs go on sale on Friday at 9am. And the idea crept into my head after all that time apart: what would Busted look like today? said Charlie Simpson.

They promise their new sound won’t be “heavy” and will still maintain that “cool pop” vibe that their old fans loved, but the new material won’t necessarily be the same kind of sound we were used to hearing in hit tracks such as Air Hostess, What I Go To School For and Year 3000.

“I honestly think I’ve lost count of the number of times I said publicly I would never do this again”.

In the same press conference, band member James Bourne said: “We always had this understanding between the three of us that if any one of us left, we would all call it quits because we want Busted to be remembered as the three of us”. “And now we’re here, we’re all super-re-energised”. And the fact that it did feel right is much of a shock to me as it is to anyone in this room.

That’s the same Charlie who once told Newsbeat that “not in a million years would we reform”.

Of the band’s return Matt added: “For me, there’s a huge sense of unfinished business …” “I have changed my mind and that’s due to circumstance”.

We know the original lineup of Sugababes reformed in 2013 under the guise of “Mutya Keisha Siobhan”, but since their single “Flatline” didn’t exactly fly off their shelves we’re proposing they try a different approach. Clearly their friendship has survived all the previous dramas as they joke around together and hug it out. And his solo project, which has spawned two albums in the past few years?

The band announced their comeback at the Soho Hotel in London – the same venue where they revealed their break-up in January 2005.
