Then, share your support by taking a picture of your green light and posting it using the hashtag #greenlightavet. The Capitol lighting is part of a national campaign called Greenlight A Vet, sponsored by several veterans service organizations and Walmart, one of our state’s largest corporate citizens.

Marvin Feil, a resident of Newton, brought the campaign to the attention of the Town Council during the November 9 meeting. It works by simply replacing the light bulbs on your porch – or in a lamp near a window – with green bulbs.
Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being.
Giant retailer Walmart is asking the community to salute veterans This Veteran’s Day by changing one of their visible light bulbs to green.

“We’ve experienced a tremendous response in Texas to Walmart’s support of veterans”, said retired Brigadier General Gary Profit, Walmart’s senior director of military programs. Show your support and appreciation for our veterans by turning on a green light inside or outside of your home on Veterans Day.
