Cops said the woman was found in her $3 million estate – dubbed Windswept Farm – at 258 Titicus Road in North Salem, where numerous horse farms dot the scenic landscape. Police say they believe she was the victim of a homicide.
State police have scheduled a news conference on the death Tuesday afternoon. A caretaker found her body in the laundry room at around 5:20 p.m. State police spent hours scouring the woods for evidence, specifically a fire extinguisher central to their murder investigation. Authorities say Colley died of blunt force trauma. The home is not visible from the main road.
Colley was the wife of a millionare McDonald’s franchisee, Euguene Colley.
The family was heavily involved in local fox hunting, and Lois Colley was a constant presence as well as an avid golfer, Thompson said.
Colley is the mother of Bruce Colley, 62, the wealthy playboy whose 2003 affair with Kerry Kennedy resulted in the end of her marriage to NY Governor Andrew Cuomo. “It isn’t a hunt without her there”. They say he isn’t considered a suspect in his wife’s death.
Both couples later divorced.
