Poland Elementary School students offer gratitude for local veterans

A few students walked to the front of the gym to deliver short speeches about the history of holiday observance and veterans past and present. Reception for military personnel and veterans after the assembly at the high school cafeteria.

Generations will come together at Learwood Middle School, 340 Lear Road, on Wednesday for the school’s Veterans Day breakfast.

All veterans – including all active, retired or former USA military – may choose one of 10 entrees plus a choice of any non-alcoholic beverage.

Fallbrook: Parade will start at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on Main Street moving from Fallbrook Street to Village Square, where a ceremony honoring veterans will be held featuring guest speaker Brad Fite, an Afghanistan War veteran and Purple Heart recipient.

An audience of parents, veterans and active military personnel giggled at the kindergarteners’ answers. His 20-year-old brother is in the U.S. Marines. All public schools in NC will be closed Wednesday, November 11 for Veterans Day. If 400+ pints are sold, a bonus $250 will be donated!

Deceased veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day, but the day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military – in wartime or peacetime.

“This is an annual program that the Russell High Air Force JROTC puts on each year”.

A special part of this year’s program was the student council. The choir, band and string students will perform. Light refreshments will be served. Dallas Clements, training officer for the Tennessee Army National Guard’s 30th Troop Command, as the keynote speaker. Bruce Adams will be presented the Kerel Hagen Award, named after and in memory of the longtime government teacher and coach. Finalists for the annual Veterans Day essay contest will read their essays.

The city of Pulaski will host a Veteran’s Day event starting at 11 a.m.by the gazebo near the courthouse downtown. W.N.in Kalispell. A free luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.

The free coffee and bagels for the celebration were provided through a donation from Andy Doss, a manager at Panera Bread. Call (406) 257-6716 for more details.

At 6:00 p.m. a patriotic service will be held in the KARM chapel.
