Colts put defensive lineman Henry Anderson on IR

Sunday was a great day for the Indianapolis Colts, as they played their best game of the season and notched their first non-AFC South victory of the year, defeating the previously unbeaten Denver Broncos and their number one overall defense 27-24. Following the win, head coach Chuck Pagano described the injury as “pretty significant”, and it looks as though that was foreshadowing for Monday’s unfortunate results.

On Monday afternoon, the Colts placed defensive end Henry Anderson on injured reserve after he suffered a significant knee injury during the third quarter of Sunday’s win against the Broncos.

Henry Anderson, a 3rd rookie from Stanford, looks to have torn his ACL based on initial tests and will be out for the season. The Colts have placed Anderson on season-ending injured reserve. He played in three games and saw action mostly on special teams.

The 6-6, 300-pound Anderson has delivered in starting all nine games this season.

Anderson has 19 total tackles and one sack this season.

Prior to the Denver game, Anderson had been credited with 34 tackles, most among defensive linemen.

Without Anderson, the Colts will lean on Billy Winn, Zach Kerr and T.Y. Rookie defensive tackle David Parry is a stable starter and veteran Kendall Langford is still getting the job done.

Now, the Colts will need to find someone who can step in and replace Anderson (who was replacing Jones).
