The Italy worldwide is now away from Anfield on loan with AC Milan after a thoroughly disappointing debut campaign on Merseyside.

But Adriano backs the hot-headed forward to rediscover his previous form at Milan after Balotelli netted 30 times in 54 appearances during his first tenure with the Rossoneri.

Milan have encouraged the striker to have the surgery, believing he will make a full recovery within six weeks of the procedure, according to Italian newspaper Corriere della Serra.

Balotelli’s parent club, Liverpool, will have to sign off on the procedure, and he could reportedly return to action after the winter break if he is treated soon.

The 25-year-old has scored just one goal in four appearances for Milan since returning to the club in the summer.

Milan confirmed their decision to seek further medical advice to address the problem on 9 November.

AC Milan announces that today Mario Balotelli underwent further consultations in Copenhagen with professor Per Holmich.
