GM recalls Hummer models after fires burn three people – Business Newswires
GM is pulling back almost 200,000 Hummer SUVs worldwide because ventilation fan motor controls can overheat and possibly start a fire.

Of the 196,000 recalled vehicles, approximately 165,000 Hummers are from the United States, while the rest have been recalled from different parts of the world, according to General Motors.
In a separate recall, 50,731 newer model Chevrolet Spark subcompacts will be recalled because a software problem may cause safety warnings not to work, GM said.
GM has reported a total of three minor burns that are a result of this overheating defect.
The recall, one of two announced Wednesday, covers the 2006 to 2010 Hummer H3 and the 2009 and 2010 H3T.
GM said it is unaware of any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to the Spark and Sonic radio problem.
The company says, the module that functions to control heating and air-conditioning blower motor speed gets heated up to high temperatures when run continuously for long, melting its plastic cover casing that increases the risk of a fire. The faulty module and the wiring harness would be replaced by these dealers, and the owners will not be charged for the repairs.
GM shut down Hummer in 2010 after a proposed sale to a Chinese company fell through. The issue can cause loss of emergency warning chimes and drain the battery if the vehicle is turned off. The callback includes about 45,000 vehicles in the United States.
