The letter – which has been seen by The Irish Times – states that Mr Müller, “guarantees that potential additional taxes will be settled by Volkswagen Group”, and that Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda models may be affected. Audi is the luxury unit of Volkswagen AG (VLKAY). Eligible owners are prompted to visit this website and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), vehicle mileage, and contact information by April 30. Once registered, the loyalty package will be mailed within four weeks, and then the vehicle owners can get their Visa debit card and VW gift card at an authorized dealer, reported Mashable.
Volkswagen offers $1,000 credit to affected vehicle owners in North America.
For vehicles not now covered by Volkswagen, the towing coverage will begin when you register the cards at a dealership.
The company has said its forecast requires VW earnings meeting current expectations and could change depending on further findings in the scandal.
German authorities say automaker Volkswagen will likely need to make more than just software changes to almost a quarter of its 2.4 million diesel cars being recalled in the country. But the company is still meeting with the government to figure out what test procedures were used. The offer could be announced to dealers on Monday and made public later in the day.
VW said the customer offer did not cover models equipped with the 3.0 V6 TDI diesel engine, including the Touareg.
“We are providing this goodwill package as a first step towards regaining our customers’ trust”, the head of Volkswagen U.S operations, Michael Horn said, as quoted by CNN Money. Across Europe, a total of 8.5 million cars fitted with the emissions beating software are due to be recalled with effect from next year.

The carmaker has admitted to fitting 11 million diesel engines worldwide with the rogue software, triggering both regulatory and criminal investigations in several countries, including Germany and the United States. The automaker can use any help it can get because according to Kelley Blue Book values, average resale prices of VW cars with 2-liter diesel engines have dropped over 13 percent since the scandal erupted.
