Target to open stores at 6 pm on Thanksgiving

The Black Friday traditional holiday kickoff of retailers is being cannibalized by holiday sales that start earlier in the month or those that last far beyond the traditional “doorbuster” of the past. It appears that TVs will be among the best deals heading into this holiday shopping season as most sales deals and leaked ads are prominently featuring them, as in year’s past.

Target doesn’t want Americans to miss Thanksgiving dinner – but with its stores opening at 6 p.m. that day for a second year running, shoppers may still have to choose between sales and dessert.

Still, as retailers’ plans have trickled out over the past week or so, they show that the Black Friday early-opening frenzy may have finally reached its peak.

According to the 40-page guide, customers shopping on Thanksgiving evening and Black Friday will find that numerous items they purchase will also come with a Target gift card.

For those who are hoping to be among the first in line, be aware that Best Buy will open its doors on Black Friday at 8 a.m.to eager consumers.

On Tuesday, the electronics retailer launched its own site previewing its specials on Black Friday, with 27 pages of discounts.

On Thanksgiving Day, there are a lot of rumored offers on the game console bundles. It plans to keep stores open until 11 p.m. or midnight the next day. It also is spreading out the deals, with a handful being available November 25, the day before Thanksgiving.

You no longer have to wait till November end to grab best Black Friday tech deals. The move is a strategic attempt by the general merchandise retailer to adopt a more competitive stance against its brick-and-mortar and online rivals.

Best Buy announced Tuesday that it would open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, the same time as it opened in 2014.

Also, Target is looking beyond Black Friday to pamper buyers.

But if you prefer to shop in store on the day after Thanksgiving, you’ll receive a coupon for 20 percent off.

In that vein, other retailers have played to consumers’ emotions about the family holiday by announcing they won’t be open on Thanksgiving.
