Rebels Lick Wounds after Arkansas as Bye Week Finally Arrives

Like his players, Freeze had a sick feeling in his stomach following Arkansas’ 4th-and-25 conversion that led to the game’s final hurrah-and ultimately a win for the Hogs. With the loss, Ole Miss falls to 7-3 and 4-2 in the SEC, no longer controlling its own destiny in the SEC West, while Arkansas’ postseason hopes are looking much better with a 5-4 record overall.

“I thought we controlled the running game against a very good running team, obviously that was the plan to stop the run“, Freeze said.

The loss came after the Rebels almost pulled out the win. He fumbled at the end of the play but teammate Dominique Reed recovered.

Allen is second in the SEC in passing yardage.

“I can’t say enough about our quarterback”, Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said. On fourth down, Brandon Allen completed a pass to tight end Hunter Henry, well short of the first down, and as he was being tackled, he heaved the ball backward in desperation.

Chad Kelly in turn has no touchdown passes, 56 yards passing. Since the second half of the Auburn game, he has led the Razorbacks to points on 15 of their last 20 possessions, including 14 touchdowns. “This team has been through a lot of adversity, every player on the team”, Laquon Treadwell, junior wide receiver, said.

Morris was an early enrollee in Ole Miss’ 2014 recruiting class and appeared in three games as a freshman a year ago.

The Rebels couldn’t convert a fourth-and-6 from the Razorbacks’ 49-yard line, which allowed the Razorbacks to attempt a 47-yard field goal as time expired in regulation.

Davis said he noted how LSU used its linebackers in the Alabama game. “I’m willing to do whatever Coach (Nick Saban) wants me to do”. You put so much into this deal and then you lose a game like tonight that comes down to the wire. It was possibly one of the most efficient offensive games since I’ve been here.

Even with all that, the Razorbacks still trailed the Rebels, but Brandon Allen, who played the game of this life, brought the Hogs within a point of Ole Miss by throwing his sixth touchdown pass of the day, a Razorback record, to Morgan for his third touchdown catch of the day.
