The Indianapolis Colts’ worst fears regarding Henry Anderson have been realized.

The Indianapolis Colts placed rookie defensive tackle Henry Anderson on season-ending injured reserve Monday after he suffered a knee injury in the win over the Denver Broncos. He played in three games and saw action mostly on special teams. They also waived cornerback Tony Carter, giving them a pair of roster spots. The original prognosis was a four-to-six week recovery time, meaning the young receiver will miss at least two more weeks.

S Mike Adams injured his ankle after recording a first-half interception of Denver quarterback Peyton Manning on Sunday. It was his fifth of the season, tying Oakland’s Charles Woodson for the National Football League lead.

That being said, all hope may not be lost along the defensive line. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday Anderson has a torn ACL which will require surgery. He started all nine games this season and registered 35 tackles (28 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and two passes defensed. Anderson was expected to make a significant contribution in his rookie season as a rotational player, but once Arthur Jones went out for the season with an injury during preseason, Anderson was thrust into the starting lineup.

Without Anderson, the Colts will lean on Billy Winn, Zach Kerr and T.Y.
