Bus driver buys coat for homeless man and melts passengers’ hearts
A bus driver has been celebrated for stopping in the pouring rain to give a young homeless man a brand new coat.

The actions of TransLink driver Paul Doyle came to light after Anna Marie McDaniel wrote on Facebook after seeing the exchange on Tuesday in West Belfast.
University student AnnaMarie McDaniel posted on Translink’s page to highlight the thoughtfulness of Mr Doyle, saying: “On the bus home from university there, absolutely miserable wet and cold night”.
Ms McDaniel said the driver had told her he often sees the man and last Monday had witnessed him standing in the pouring rain, wearing only a t-shirt. My heart went out to him.
“So I spoke to him before I got off the bus”.
‘He also got him food and put a fiver in the bag, as well as a coat, and jokingly said: “Make sure next time I see you, you have a coat on!”
A bus driver has become a local hero after a story of how he helped a homeless man has gone viral online.
The Union representative said it’s not unknown for Metro drivers to do these types of kind acts. A little bit of kindness really can go a long way’.
The post has since received over 62,000 “likes” with hundreds of people calling Mr Doyle an “amazing” man.
It was just another day in the life of a Belfast bus driver whose selfless act of kindness toward a homeless man has captured the hearts of thousands.
In all, more than 40,000 people had given the thumbs up to Anna Marie’s story of human warmth and kindness on a rainy Belfast night. “I wanted him to know how much the wonderful thing he had done had meant to me”.
