In a statement, the International Olympic Committee said: “With its zero-tolerance policy against doping, the International Olympic Committee will take all the necessary measures and sanctions with regards to the withdrawal and reallocation of medals”.

He is alleged to have received over 1 million euros ($1.09 million) in bribes in 2011 to cover up positive doping tests of Russian athletes, the office of France’s financial prosecutor has said.

“Today I held consultations with the presidents of WADA and IAAF and I can say that I don’t see insurmountable obstacles to dealing with the situation”, Mutko said.

Geneva: The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on Tuesday suspended the accreditation of the Moscow Anti doping Center with immediate effect following the recommendation of its Independent Commission.

The federation has prepared a response to the IAAF over the allegations ahead of a meeting Friday that will determine whether to suspend Russia, the first step toward potentially barring the country’s track and field team from the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Richard Pound, chairman of the independent commission, said Russian Federation should be banned from next year’s Olympics and that there is suspicion over a few of the performances that saw it scoop 82 medals at the London 2012 Games.

The commission’s report transmitted evidence of “corruption and bribery practices at the highest levels of global athletics” to Interpol for investigation.

“Russia needs to demonstrate it cares about clean sport, can deliver clean athletes and respects the integrity of athletic competition”.

“Therefore, the IOC has no reason to question the credibility of the results of the anti-doping tests carried out at the Olympic Winter Games 2014”.
