Seahawks’ Lockette to undergo neck surgery after big hit

The Seattle Seahawks announced Monday morning that wide receiver and special-teams ace Ricardo Lockette was having surgery in Dallas following Sunday’s hit that required him to be taken off the field on a stretcher in Arlington, Texas.

The procedure, to stabilize ligament damage incurred in a collision in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, will be performed later on Monday in Dallas.

“There’s no way”, he said, via The Seattle Times. But it’s hard to fault the Cowboys’ defense after holding the Seahawks to 13 points, which is plenty good enough to give their teammates a chance to win the game. Hauschka did convert a 24-yard field goal with 1:10 left to play for the game-winning score.

“I just think, thank you God for protecting me”, Tate said. “He wasn’t moving for a while, then he started moving his eyes and moving his fingers”.

“I don’t really know the rule, like how that rule works”.

The Cowboys (2-5) lost their fifth straight without quarterback Tony Romo and despite Dez Bryant’s return from a five-game absence with a broken right foot. Seattle has a bye this week. The Seahawks will see NFC West-leading Arizona in two weeks.

Heath apologized after the game, saying he “felt horrible” after seeing the result of the play that earned him a personal foul flag.

“I thought it was a classless play, from everybody down”, Bennett said. “I got on one knee and prayed for the man”. “Don’t put clips together and do that”.

Taylor further reported that Bryant threatened to stop talking to the media and several players came over to check on him before he was taken out of the locker room to get dressed in private.

Carroll said again that Lockette has full movement of all of his extremities and said Lockette had that movement on the field. A team badly in need of a break finally appeared to get one due to their most polarizing player. Who knows what may have happened if the ball was placed inside the one yard-line with Marshawn Lynch running the ball. Bryant was blanketed by star cornerback Richard Sherman during the game and managed just two catches for 12 yards. However, the Seahawks managed to hold Dallas without a sack, the most surprising statistic of the game. Seattle averaged 3.6 yards per carry, with quarterback Russell Wilson picking up the most consistent yardage on scrambles and option runs.
