Palmieri’s OT Goal Gives Devils 4-3 Win Over Canucks

It’s the franchise’s best 15-game start since the 1980-81 season. Allen has given up three goals in his last three games. Tootoo did fight Derek Dorsett. Tootoo released a book a year ago detailing his struggles with alcoholism following his brother Terence’s suicide in 2002.

Needless to say, it was a big clash for Vancouver and the players, but the team seemed to run out of gas.

“I have no respect for that guy”, Tootoo said. “Nor should the league. They shouldn’t tolerate stuff like that”.

Keith Kinkaid made 28 saves, and Cammalleri, Adam Henrique and Sergey Kalinin also scored for New Jersey.

The Devils are just on fire right now, which includes wins in four of their last five home games. “You want to make home ice a tough place to play. That goes a long way in an 82-game season”, forward Kyle Palmieri said. “I think their team knows that he’s a shooter and he pumped and froze everybody and all I did was put it in the empty net”. Chris Higgins, with his second goal in three games since returning from injury, also scored for the Canucks. “There’s reasons for it. It might be tiny little mistakes”.

After failing to convert on four power plays earlier in the game, including a 5-on-3 for 1:33 in the second period, the Devils got another chance on Dan Hanhuis interference penalty 2:46 into the 3-on-3 overtime.

Havlat will be facing his former team in New Jersey, where he scored five goals and posted 14 points in 40 games last season. The tally ended a sequence which began with Travis Zajac forcing a neutral-zone turnover before carrying the puck into the offensive zone. From there, he took a pass from Zajac and beat Miller with a deke. Cammalleri gave the Devils a 2-1 lead by finishing off a 2-on-1 rush with Lee Stempiak with 3:28 left in the first.

“It was a good win, but no more important than any other win”, coach John Hynes cautioned. The 24-year-old Russian rookie circled out of the right corner into the circle before whipping a shot past Miller on the short side. Allen recorded a personal best with 45 saves as St. Louis skated to its second straight win and fifth in six outings with a 4-0 victory over Central Division rival Nashville on Saturday. Eric Gelinas and Stefan Matteau were scratched by the Devils.
