It is an unfortunate reality of our civilization that sometimes wars must be fought, as hard as we try to avoid them. A temporary halt of fighting was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I. It was then known as “the Great War”.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
“If it weren’t for them, we wouldn’t be here”, Don Bressman said.
From that point forward, November 11 was set aside to celebrate Armistice Day, which became a legal holiday in 1938.
We salute you, veterans, on this Veterans Day.
“There’s still hundreds of veterans who need help”, de Blasio said Wednesday. Both holidays were established to recognize and honor the men and women who have worn the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. She also talked about the history of the electronic memorial, which is an online record of USA military personnel from the city of Berkeley who died in the Vietnam War. Major General Baker said Veterans Day exemplifies the strong relationship between the CSRA and its military community.
Montogmery’s Vietnam Veterans teceived the honor they deserve with a patriotic ceremony.
“It’s very important that when you come back you feel, unlike what we felt when we came back from Vietnam, a positive attitude by everybody”, Richard Baron, a Vietnam veteran said.
The theme of this year’s ceremony was honoring all who served in times of war and in times of peace, and purple heart recipients.

Veterans we talked to say they want to get the word out about what it means to serve, often times in unsafe situations, regardless of whether they are from the guard, the reserve, or active duty.
