Presidential candidate Ben Carson will be speaking at Liberty University at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11. He added, “People who know me know that I’m an honest person”. “Well let me tell you – our nation’s survival as a pinnacle nation in the world…is rooted in our values system”. “The secular progressives don’t care whether you agree with them or not as long as you sit down and keep your mouths shut, and I think the secret to prosperity in this nation is we must be willing to stand up for what we believe in”.

Liberty University was founded by Jerry Falwell, the Christian evangelist, in the 70s and has grown into a center of political activity for candidates courting so-called values voters.
Ben Carson is the fourth Republican to file for Kentucky’s presidential caucus on March 5. Student Government President Quincy Thompson says he’s excited his class will have the opportunity to hear from multiple candidates because for many of them it will be their first time casting a ballot.
Without mentioning anyone else running for president, Carson said “unscrupulous politicians and news media” mislead the public about the economy, priming them to fall for pie in the sky ideas like free tuition for everyone – a key part of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’s platform. “The reason I liken it to tithing is because I believe God is the fairest individual there is”, he said. But, quoting Scripture, he said: “If God be for you, who can be against you?” He then launched into a critique of the “stampede of regulations” and said, “If we can get that out, it makes a big difference”.
“I am hopeful that the people will pray for courage, for stamina, for protection, for me and my family, and for the eyes of the nation to be opened to what’s going on”, he said, saying the nation is being divided by phony “wars” between various groups.
“We talk about Liberty all the time”, Carson said after introducing his wife Candy, “because that’s what it represents, liberty, freedom”.
The medical students were also taken with Carson’s straightforwardness and passion for what he believes in. Kayla Weston, one of those students, was particularly impressed with Carson’s parting words of wisdom for the students. Thompson said that Carson related well to the student body as he spoke in Convocation, relaying a few of his background, including being raised in a single-parent household and struggles in school.
