Canada’s Finance Minister Bill Morneau said on Tuesday he intends to deliver an economic and fiscal update before the end of the year, though he did not yet have an exact date.
In a commentary entitled “Canada elections: Israel loses “best friend” as Justin Trudeau defeats Stephen Harper” the global Business Insider On October 15 said now Jerusalem has lost one of its staunchest allies in Canada’s Harper in the landslide election victory by Trudeau. The Liberals pledged to form an all-party parliamentary committee to review the pros and cons of alternative electoral systems before making a decision.
“He said this will be thoroughly examined by the parliament and more importantly will be debated”, Yussuff said, recalling Trudeau’s speech. Former Research In Motion Co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie has also warned against provisions of the pact.
Veteran Affairs Minister, Kent Hehr stated that Canadians veterans can be assured that they will be treated with “compassion” from the new government and that more specifically, all promises made by the Liberals during the election would be kept in regards to Veterans’ issues. “Aerospace is a great example of that, as is the auto sector and others”, Trudeau told the gathering.
“How we can best invest and support that kind of manufacturing needs to be done responsibly and with our eyes open and not just based on emotion, politics or symbols”.
“Government by cabinet is back”, Trudeau said, speaking as prime minister for the first time, following his swearing-in ceremony on November 4. Among the most high profile of those positions will be including Toronto Centre rookie MP Morneau, who is a successful and wealthy Bay Street businessman, and the new Finance Minister, arguably the most important job after prime minister.
Trudeau pledged again to repeal two laws – one enacted in 2014 that changed union voting rules and another passed this year that critics said heaped new compliance costs on pension funds.
The new Trudeau government will have to contend with bigger-than-expected baseline deficits in the coming years as it starts rolling out the large spending plans that helped it win power, the federal budget watchdog says.

“It’s an incredible pleasure for me to be here today, before you, to present to Canada a cabinet that looks like Canada”, Trudeau said to the enthusiastic crowd. Harper’s Conservatives had an adversarial relationship with labor, Yussuff said, adding that he’s hopeful Trudeau’s Liberals “will build a new era of labor relations in the country”. He also has earned a well-deserved reputation as someone who has a vast understanding of environmental issues and has been deeply involved in matters to do with the environment for countless years, having previously served as Canada’s Environment Minister.
