In the first case, a reporter from a Delhi-based new channel who was in Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh to gather information about the scam died on Saturday.

“Ahead of the monsoon session, the party does not want to empower the opposition”, said an insider.

New Delhi: With a CBI probe in the Vyapam scam becoming imminent in the coming days, the BJP top leadership is getting prepared for the eventuality.

Police have consistently failed to investigate journalist fatalities in India, CPJ said.

“Two people saw her jumping into the pond. But, she was declared as brought dead”. Congress rejects it in toto.

The STF and police have claimed it to be a suicide. “46th or 47th?”

“The Trinamool Congress will raise its voice against Vyapam scam in Parliament”.

It Labelled the Vyapam episode as the “most risky cocktail of corruption and crime” and demanded that Chouhan step down until a probe into the “sordid” scam got over.

“The Congress must refrain from doing politics on deaths and it should stop maligning the state government”.

Justice, Gonvindacharya said, can not be done with SIT probe.

Police said Sharma was found dead with an nearly empty bottle of alcohol in his hotel room that was locked from the inside.

Meanwhile, in a related development, Ashish Chaturvedi – a whistleblower in Gwalior district – approached the police demanding security cover. “This is only possible if he steps down as chief minister”.

“Loktantra lok lajja se chalta hai (public perception is important in democracy).Honouring public sentiments, I will request the high court for a CBI probe”, Chouhan said, adding “the functioning of the government should be beyond any doubt”.

Bhopal, July 7 (PTI): Madhya Pradesh government on Tuesday moved the state High Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the Vyapam scam, and the plea may come up for hearing on Wednesday.

The Special Task Force filed an FIR against 88-year-old Yadav, alleging his complicity in the forest guard recruitment racket.

Announcing a CBI probe would be the simplest way for the embattled BJP to salvage its credibility and signal that it is serious about solving the Vyapam mystery.

While the Centre ruled out a CBI probe into the scam, as demanded by the Opposition, for the time being, the Congress continued to press for Chouhan’s immediate resignation to let an “impartial investigation” take place.

A day after Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the CBI need not probe the scandal that has reportedly claimed several lives and a day after Chouhan himself didn’t sound too enthusiastic about the CBI, the chief minister made a sudden volte-face.

Chouhan insisted that he did not discuss his decision to go for a CBI inquiry with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, now in Central Asia.
