92 year old WW2 veteran among those marching in Bangor Brewer Parade

The holiday replaced what had been known as Armistice Day, which marked the end of World War I.

It was not until later, after World War II, that Armistice Day became Veterans Day.

Veterans Day-a day to honor and pay tribute to the almost 25 million veterans who have served and who continue to serve the United States.

“It means a lot to me because I spent 23 years in the military and I was in the Korean War and Vietnam War and I do respect our service”, said Korean and Vietnam Wars Veteran Preston Anderson.

“Your presence here today demonstrates your acknowledgement and gratitude for the generations of military men and women that have served to ensure freedom can endure”, he said.

“We’re marching for today’s Veteran’s Day”, he said.

The goal of Veterans Day is to recognize the contributions of the nation’s veterans.

Everyone is invited to attend the Veterans Day Parade in Florence and salute those who protect this country.

“Memorial Day is for celebrating those friends that we lost, but [Veterans Day] is to celebrate the veterans who are still here, as well as remembering those that we lost”, said Lee Spinner, of Athens, Pennsylvania.

Hogan said the Park City Veteran’s Memorial was the first built in our area. Creedence Clearwater Revival and other music of the era filled the air near the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America spot along the row of tents that different organizations set up at the event.

“The brothers that served over there, it bonded us for life”.

How many veterans in the U.S.? In Europe, Britain and the Commonwealth countries it is common to observe two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. every November 11.

The ceremony include a military jet flyover, oath of enlistment for more than 100 new recruits, playing of taps, and the laying of a ceremonial.

The band from J.C. Carson High School goes past the main building about the VA Medical Center during the Veteran's Day parade in Salisbury
