Colts QB Andrew Luck out 2-6 weeks with lacerated kidney

“We’ve won with Matt. We’ll do the same thing, and certainly we will not put Andrew back out there again until he’s 100 percent healthy”. They already fired Pep Hamilton, might as well just keep it going because the stink goes all the way to the top.

As a result, backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck will man the starting job in Luck’s absence.

Indy took another precaution Tuesday by bringing former Monmouth quarterback Alex Tanney back to the practice squad. A release from the team says the injury happened as he was scrambling for a play early in the fourth quarter.

“We’re in a situation where they have a 40-year-old quarterback that’s potentially going to play half of their football games this year”. Hasselbeck completed 48-of-76 passes for 495 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, playing behind a weak offensive line has subjected Luck to a pounding this season.

Indianapolis is on its bye week in Week 10, so the first game Luck will miss is Week 11 in Atlanta.

This will now be the second time Luck has missed a significant stretch of the 2015 season. Bleacher Report noted that both games are winnable with the veteran quarterback as a starter.

Not to speculate, but the injury does seem more significant that the Colts are letting on. The indication of the injury should not require surgery and the initial diagnosis is between two to six weeks. “We’ll look at the (waiver) wire, and we’ll look at the list and see who’s out there and then make that decision”, Pagano said. The Colts are now 4-5 and sitting in first place in the AFC South.

“It is one heck of a blow”, Pagano told reporters. It’s obviously not an ideal situation, but you don’t want to panic and drop a potential late-season QB1. Our guys will respond like they always do. “We have to win this week and continue to win to have a chance at the end of the season”.
