Putin: Russia and China can overcome any difficulty together

Modi had apparently phoned Sharif to convey his Ramzan wishes and it is believed that the meeting was confirmed during the phone call. China is a leading nation and the largest economy among the BRICS countries and mutual projects like ‘Silk Road’ will definitely increase the cooperation between Russian Federation and China economically, he added.

He was accorded a warm welcome at the Ufa Airport and was treated with candies.

Putin is also expected to meet his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani.

“I am looking forward to developing the cooperation (between the two countries)”, Putin said as the two leaders met in Ufa ahead of the BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summits. The BRICS Summit will focus discussions on enhancing cooperation in economic area, including the possibility of trade in local currency.

“Advancing the new development bank is the foremost goal since it can help shift the cooperation from mere view-exchanging to more practical one”, said Zhu Jiejin, an associate professor at the Center for BRICS Studies of Fudan University.

Mr Cheng said the summit, to be attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, would also discuss security in Afghanistan.
