‘Spectre’ shoots to $73 million, misses ‘Skyfall’s’ mark
Spectre has shot to the top of the U.S. box office but failed to match the success of the previous Bond film Skyfall.

Another newcomer which made a solid debut was the “Peanuts” movie. The film has struggled with critics, although Box Office Mojo notes that audiences gave it an A- CinemaScore grade. It even lets Bond rely on the woman by his side.
This film is about a cryptic message from the past that sends James Bond (Daniel Craig) on a rogue mission to Mexico City and eventually to Rome.
This total makes the film starring Daniel Craig as 007 the second-biggest opening in the series’ history behind its predecessor, “Skyfall”, which made $88.3 million in 2012.
Now to be clear Spectre did everything right, from bringing on go-to villain Christoph Waltz to having Sam Smith craft the signature single, this was a smartly plotted and executed production and campaign. There is a sense of completeness that wasn’t there at the end of Skyfall, and that’s what makes this feel different.
Of course there was one other thing filmmakers knew would impact their earnings … Scenes like explosions and combats are thus expected to take the audience off their seats in the thick of the actions, while already raising the expectations of Bond fans in China.

It sees Charlie Brown attempting to encourage the affections of the Little Red-Haired Girl, who has moved in across the street, with a variety of endeavours, and has picked up excellent reviews.
Spectre expanded into an additional 72 territories, debuting in first place in all of the markets and pushing its global haul to $300 million and counting, with 40% of worldwide markets still to come, including France, Australia, South Korea, Japan and China. “And Peanuts will have legs through the holiday season”.
So what does all this mean for investors? Universal owned the summer and the fall has gone to Fox and Sony; two studios looking to rebound. It doesn’t help that 2,072 theaters across the country dumped the movie altogether into a near-limited run of 421 total theaters. Both films played at around 3,900 theaters, each unseating The Martian, which had stayed on top for more than five weeks while one contender after another burned up in the atmosphere.

Brooklyn, a 1950s immigrant story starring Saoirse Ronan, took in a respectable US$181,000 from five cinemas over the weekend, after opening on Wednesday. It’s safe to say that Bond is likely to hit the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office in a few days.
